Valentine's Day: Paper Plate Designs

I am working on some new paper plate designs for spring. I was working on a sketch for this Valentine's Day plate and my seven year old son decided to try designing his own version of a Valentine's plate! I thought it was so good that I had to post it!

The dark area of the heart is where someone has taken a giant bite out of the chocolate heart!

Kennedy Elementry: Art in Residence

I have been working in the Salem/Keizer schools with the Art in Residence program and I am having a wonderful time! These paintings are wax resist with watercolor done with the 1st graders at Kennedy Elementry. They all did such a wonderful job!

Wow, I can't believe the snow and ice!

Look at the size of the twig and the amount of ice on it!!!

I sure hope none of our trees fall!

Winter Wonderland!

It's been snowing here for days. Today is even heavier than yesterday when we made this wonderful snowman! It looks like it's going to be a very long Christmas break for the kids. I hope I survive! ;-)

Carlee will read some of her very
favorite picture books and together
the class will discuss just how
pictures can tell stories. You will start
with observational drawing lessons
to focus on the many details that
make a picture interesting. Then you
will use those skills to create your
very own illustrations! Limit 10.
